Temuka Bridge

In April 2012 the Bridge Nosing’s were replaced on the Temuka Bridge which is located just out of Timaru. After a short time the nosing began to crack and fail. In March 2016 Downers Timaru, on behalf of NZTA, undertook the job of replacing all of the Bridge nosing’s using Emseal Emcrete and the re instatement of new Emseal BEJS (Bridge Expansion Joint System).

On the date of installation there were two Allco technical representatives on site to see the project through, the day started out with training for the Downer team and on-going support during application. Installation was completed overnight (due to traffic being lighter) which went smoothly and lane access was opened within 2 hours of installation.

Temuka Bridge BEJS_Before & After

NZTA data indicates there is in excess of 9,600 vehicle movements per day over the Temuka River Bridge, with 16% of these vehicles classified as heavy traffic moving along
this piece of open road. As at July 2017 both the nosing and BEJS show no signs of detrition.
