Wynyard Quarter Gets First Application of Coreflex in NZ
Coreflex was chosen as the best option for tanking the WQIP Building developments in Wynyard Quarter. Due to the location of the building, there was a high concentration of contaminants, high water table and saline water a specialised waterproofing membrane was required not only to handle hydrostatic pressure but also to act as a vapour barrier protecting indoor air from potential ingress of hydrocarbon vapours.
Due to the devoted levels of hydrocarbon, Allco recommended the use of Coreflex 60 as it consists of a reinforced thermoplastic membrane integrally bonded to a proprietary active polymer core (APC) technology layer. The two barrier materials combined, provide superior waterproofing protection unmatched by other products.
As this was the first application of Coreflex within New Zealand, training was carried out with MPM Waterproofing Ltd. Installation began with a pre-installation meeting and was closely monitored by independent Quality Assurance engineers throughout the waterproofing process.
The architect was pleased to see the speed at which the project was able to get out of the ground, made more noticeable with a number of projects in the area starting at the same time and taking a much longer time to be completed.
