Reduction Performance: Achieving Significant Milestones  

As a leading supplier in New Zealand’s construction industry, we recognise our responsibility to acknowledge and minimise our environmental impact. We’ve partnered with Ekos, to review and calculate our CO2 emissions, to provide us with a comprehensive carbon footprint report.

We’re proud to announce that we have achieved Carbon Conscious certification for our organizational operations, highlighting our commitment to sustainability and transparency. Our certification reflected our commitment to long-lasting, effective change with a commitment to continued improvement.

Reduction Performance: Achieving Significant Milestones

Over the reporting period from April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023, we’ve made substantial progress in reducing our carbon emissions.

• Absolute Emissions Reduction: We achieved a 36.34% reduction in absolute emissions compared to our base year. This reduction results from several targeted strategies, such as consolidating shipments to reduce transportation emissions and optimizing our operational efficiency.

• Intensity Reduction: We reduced our carbon intensity – measured by emissions per Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) employee – by 36% over the same period. This metric is crucial as it reflects our ability to lower emissions relative to our growth, ensuring that as we expand, our environmental impact decreases.

• Key Reduction Strategies: Our focus was on optimizing logistics by reducing the number of shipments through smarter planning, thus lowering fuel consumption. Additionally, we implemented policies to minimize unnecessary business travel, opting for virtual meetings whenever possible. These measures not only contributed to our carbon reduction but also enhanced operational efficiency.

Our Future Goals

We are committed to continuing our sustainability journey with ambitious reduction targets:

• By 2026: We aim to achieve a 3% reduction in both absolute emissions and carbon intensity by continuing to optimize our waste management, electricity usage, and travel practices.

• By 2029: Our goal is to reduce both metrics by 5%, focusing on further improving our transportation and logistics processes, as well as reducing petrol usage.

• By 2033: We plan to achieve a 7% reduction, marking a significant milestone in our long-term commitment to sustainability.
