The Resilience of Allco tanking membranes under extreme weather conditions

During the extreme weather events of early 2023, our tanking membranes were really put to the test. A lot of construction sites around the country were negatively affected by the intense rain events wreaking havoc on already tight schedules and causing large delays, not to mention the increased cost due to the loss of product and time to replace.

How much is your tanking really costing you?

Allco Volclay Waterproofing range is a great alternative to torch-on membranes. Unlike torch-on, the Volclay range can be installed in most weather conditions and is a lot quicker to install. Volclay membranes can be applied to damp substrates – there is no need to wait 28 days for the concrete to cure – saving the project precious time and money.

Intense rain events, project design and water control post-construction

The changing climate patterns require a revaluation of water control practices in construction projects. By prioritising effective water management from the design phase through to post-construction, we can mitigate the impact of intense rain events and prevent potential damage. Implementing improved backfilling techniques, utilizing larger (or more) drain coils positioned well below finish floor level, larger volume of backfill and performing regular maintenance are crucial steps toward a more resilient and sustainable approach to water control.

Tanking in wet conditions

One of the greatest benefits of the Allco Volclay range of sodium bentonite products is that it can be installed in virtually any weather conditions - including rain and snow! Volclay products can also be applied to damp substrates - there is no need to wait 28 days for the concrete to cure - saving projects precious time and money.
